Lola Rose jewellery

Lola Rose jewellery

Lola Rose jewellery may not have been going as long as some of the more established designer jewellery brands such as Tiffany or Van Cleef but Lola Rose has become one of the most popular jewellery brands on both sides of the Atlantic.

This jewellery brand wasn’t the brainchild of a bunch of corporate executives gathered around a boardroom table instead it was the result of one woman’s passion and love for an idea that she felt convinced would fill a niche in the market, this woman was Nicola Gewirtz.

Before Gewirtz became involved in jewellery she was a Personal Secretary (a fancy name for a secretary) in London, England. However, a chance birthday gift one year sparked an idea that was to have a profound effect on Gewirtz’s life. Having received an expensive piece of designer jewellery for her birthday Gewirtz realised that this accessory cost more than the clothes she would wear with it and so the seed was sown.

Gewirtz started to think of ways of making affordable but glamorous jewellery and began experimenting with different stones and different designs. Before too long she was flooded with orders from friends and family and a decision had to be made-should she continue designing and selling jewellery as a sideline business or give up her career and pursue her dream ?

The rest, as they say, is history but it hasn’t been a smooth ride to the top for Nicola Gewirtz. Without any commercial background (by her own admission she didn’t even know what an “invoice” was) she had approach large national department stores with her collection as well as work out the logistics of how to supply her jewellery in large quantities and maintain a high standard of quality control. She still cringes with embarassment when she recalls her first order from a major department store. Upon succesfully negotiating her first big order with a large department store Gewirtz immediately phoned her father on the pavement outside the office to recount word for word how the meeting went. She only realised when she ended the call that the buyer had also stepped outside for some fresh air and had heard every word.

Gewirtz’s ethos of affordable luxury is demonstrated in the very reasonable prices that her jewellery retails for. You will be hard pressed to find many pieces that retail for over
